Book a tour: Norms in art – Göteborgs konstmuseum

Norms are the unwritten rules that we all have to relate to on a daily basis. Norms control society more than most of us are aware of, and constantly shape our conceptions of ourselves and those around us. We can learn a lot from examining art from the perspective of gender studies and a critique of norms. You will no doubt be astounded by both the past and the present! Portraits tell us about fashion, gender roles and taboos, among other things. Through history, which people have been portrayed in portraits – normal people or those with power? Join an art educator on a tour of museum that goes beyond the regular boundaries.
